BIGBANG is a South Korean boy group under YG Entertainment, debuting as a five-member act on August 19, 2006 at the YG Family 10th Anniversary Concert. The group name reflects their ambition to cause a "big bang" in the music industry. They currently promote as a trio consisting of G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, and DAESUNG. Debut Story

BIGBANG's formation was documented through a YG Entertainment survival audition program in 2006, where the final members were selected from a large pool of trainees. The public broadcast generated significant buzz even before the group officially debuted. BIGBANG made their official debut at the YG Family 10th Anniversary Concert on August 19, 2006, and released their first studio album, BIGBANG Vol.1, in December of the same year. In 2007, their debut EP ALWAYS and its title track "Lies" swept every music chart upon release, triggering what was dubbed the "Lies Syndrome" and launching BIGBANG to the top of the K-pop scene.
